Western Medical Astrology 
Medical astrology (traditionally known as Iatromathematics) is an ancient medical system that associates various parts of the body, diseases, and drugs as under the influence of the sun, moon, and planets, along with the twelve astrological signs. Each of the astrological signs (along with the sun, moon, and planets) is associated with different parts of the human body. The underlying basis for medical astrology, astrology itself, was considered an essential study in medicine.

Medical Astrology is a fascinating, timeless subject of antiquity that has unfortunately lost its appreciation in the wake of chemical (allopathic) medicine and the church abandoning its role in health care. Historically, the two oldest medical sciences of man's history are astrology and herbalism. In a rare book uncovered from the English archives on medical astrology, it was stated that as late as the 1700's, those who entered the profession as "doctor of medicine", either in England or other European countries, were obliged to pass an astrological examination. And if the candidate was found deficient in the knowledge of medical astrology, the individual was deemed unfit to practice medicine !
While almost everyone knows his or her astrological Sun sign from their month and date of birth, they are not generally familiar with the personal characteristics associated with it, dietary and hygienic measures to be advised, and even preventative measures it provides to preserve, regain, or maintain one's health. Further, most everyone does not know their Moon Sign which is a more powerful significator in terms of health of body and mind. Physicians in the ER know well the influence of the full moon, but few realize that the Moon Sign reveals our potential food allergies and emotional proclivities. Further, if you want to understand your point of weakness, the tissue systems most prone to toxic deposits, the organ most like to breakdown as we age, then look to Saturn's placement.

I have been a medical astrologer for over thirty years and have studied thousands of cases. Hundreds of years ago, every physician was an astrologer, but now I am one of only a few. I have observed over the years that the diseases and disorders from which a patient suffers can be predicted as possibilities from the birth chart. One must understand that the Birth Map is a template, it is not causal. The habit of the western mind is to think linear, having difficulty in spatial concepts and therefore morbidly material. According to the Hermetic axion - "As above, so below," astrologers say that the patterns in the Cosmos at the time of an event is directly related to the mode that event it will be. Our first breath, or celestial baptism, beginning with the time of day, the location of the sun, moon and stars, imparts a pattern that we live with the rest of our lives. Consider these factors:
• A patient with a Venus combust a malefic planet will not be able to balance the energies of the body. Venus is our significator of gluttony, the native will attempt to gain energy through food trying to stabilize the blood sugar.
• A patient with an overactive Mars will have high fevers in youth yet be accident prone throughout life.
• Someone whose Jupiter is unrestrained by other planets is less likely to be able to check the growth of a cancer, which begins as wild proliferation of certain tissues. The liver will have to be the focus of therapy, which Jupiter's placement rules.
• If Neptune is too powerful, the patient will be overcome with fear and may bring about the very afflictions which are feared. All too often the neptune ruled person takes his or her "doctor prescribed drugs" in mortal fear of developing a disease.
• If Mercury is the disease indicator, there will be a breakdown of the internal communications of the body. The autonomic nervous must be balanced to correct hormonal imbalances.
• If Saturn dominates the chart, the patient will be able to endure a great deal, but may suffer from bone disease or imbalance from a previous fracture. Arthritis in old age is the rule.
• If the Moon is in aspect to the more difficult planets, the "malefics," there will be danger in infancy, and psychological troubles due to the influence of the mother. Moon disorders bring a lifetime of worry.
• If the native is an old soul, and the Sun is prominent and well placed, the health will be good and the ego strong.
